Hey!

My name is Josh and I’m looking for some audio tech work starting asap (Fly tech, patch, etc.).

I’m Nashville based and have reached out to every production company in town that I know of (in person and online) and haven’t heard much back. My understanding is that it can be hard to get on gigs like this without being directly recommended.

That being said, I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions/ideas of people to reach out to or anything I can do to get some teching work on the books for next year. Any help at all is appreciated!

If you like polishing feeder, shops are usually in clean-up mode this time of year. It is a good way to get your face out there.

Lighting design software

Hey! I’m a drummer currently but want to get into lighting design. I have a ton of ideas in my head of lighting designs to go along to songs I like and I just need software that I can get my ideas put into. I wouldn’t use it professionally, and ideally if there’s a free one that’d be sweet!

Just for some entertainment in my downtime. Figured it’s worth a shot to ask!

Man good question. I know there is some free lighting design software out there. I wish I knew them off hand.

Mid-side comp.

Hey audio friends.

I am currently using an onboard compressor, on my band bus. This compressor is keyed from my lead vocalists mic.

I am looking for an analog compressor that has separate mid/side dynamic control, and a key input.

As I would like to only compress the mid and leave the sides alone.

Thanks in advance!

I just bought the SSL Bus+. It does mid side!

Mixing Station tips/tricks

Working on dialing in a show file build for a show in Mixing Station with an X-Touch Extender, using a Soundcraft ui24r, for a local show. It’s overkill for the small venue the show is going to, but it’s a show with friends and I have the gear to make it happen, so why not?

For those running mixing station with a physical control surface, what are some buttons or controls you’ve programmed that have been helpful in speeding up your workflow? Coming from working on Yamaha or Avid desks, it’s been fun to find ways to make the tiny surface do a lot of different tasks. Currently lots of navigation functions, tap tempo, and controlling the console’s multitrack recording on the controller.

I set up a custom layout with monitor sends down one side. Nice and fast when I have to set up mons and run them from FOH.
