Keep sowing

This is from one of the my favorite pastor’s devo this morning. It was a great reminder as I get ready to head out Monday for tour. I hope it encourages someone else too.

“I don’t actually know how God moves a soul from “lost” to “saved” or from “idle” to “devoted discipleship”. All I know is to do my part and leave the rest to God. Today, I can encourage someone with a card or a call. I can pray. I can hold the hand of someone who is struggling or hurt. I can be a friend to someone who is lonely. I can smile at the frowning face of someone I pass on the street. I can continue to teach what God lays on my heart. I can share what God has done in my life. I can run the race and finish well even w…

When Reason Serves Rebellion

Proverbs 22:13

“The sluggard says, ‘There is a lion outside! I shall be killed in the streets!’”

This one challenged me more than I expected.

The part that stood out wasn’t the laziness. It was how easily we can come up with reasons to justify what we already want to do.

The proverb isn’t really about lions. It’s about excuses.

That’s a really good reminder and slap in the face, to be honest. I have caught myself having all the solid reasons to do things my way, when deep down I know it’s not His way. I usually know how I would “do it” and rarely slow down enough to listen or accept the way “He would do it”.

I pray that as I head out next week I make the time to pass on my way in exchange for His way, that I show His love instead of my ambition and walk in a manner that points others to Him through my actions or inactions. I pray this over all our brothers and sisters putting on the show while being the light in this dark world.

Mercy For Today

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases… they are new every morning.” Lamentations 3:22–23

Today’s podcast hit me pretty hard because I know I’ve been guilty of carrying way more than I’m supposed to.

Between trying to grow This Is DeLaCruz, staying on top of my rep job, being intentional in my marriage, and even all the 3D print stuff, it can feel like my brain never shuts off. I’m constantly thinking about what needs to get done next, what I’m behind on, what I’m not giving enough attention to, and how I’m supposed to balance all of it well.

And I think that’s why this one stood out to me so much.

God gives mercy for today. Not for every possible problem next week. Not for the full weight of the month. Not for every responsibility all at once. Just for today.

That’s hard for me, because I…

That's so good! I'm currently "on the bench" since having triple bypass surgery a month ago. I can't lift more than 10 lbs, can't drive...It's been very interesting to be forced to shut it down. I feel like this hit me just when I needed it. The down time is a gift and I'm trying to remember that. The work is piled up for when I'm ready to get back, but until then His grace will get me through the feelings of uselessness and anxiety of loosing work. Thanks for sharing, it's a great reminder.
