Open the Windows of Your Heart - SJDD
Today’s Solid Joys Devotional-
“A bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench.”
Isaiah 42:3
Some days your faith feels strong. Other days it feels like it’s barely hanging on.
Maybe you’re tired. Maybe life has been coming at you nonstop. Maybe you feel like that “bruised reed” Isaiah talks about, bent over, worn down, just trying to keep going.
What I love about this passage is how it describes the heart of Jesus. When he sees someone weak, he doesn’t snap them off and move on. When he sees someone whose faith is just a tiny spark, he doesn’t blow it out.
He protects it.
Sometimes we think God only wants the strong version of us. The confident version. The version that has everything together. But the promise here shows the opposite. Jesus moves toward the weak. Toward the bruised. Toward the barely-burning wick.
And here’s something encouraging. There’s a big difference between a spark and a fire, but there’s an even bigger difference between a spark and no spark at all. If there is even a tiny flicker of faith in your heart today, God is already at work.
So instead of trying to manufacture strength, just open the windows of your heart to His promises. Let His Spirit move in. He knows how to take a spark and grow it into a flame.
Prayer
Lord, some days my faith feels small. Thank You that You don’t reject weakness or snuff out a struggling heart. Help me open my life to Your promises and let Your Spirit strengthen what feels fragile. Take whatever spark of faith I have and breathe on it until it grows into something stronger. Amen.
