This morning, I opened my app expecting to hear the next Solid Joys Daily Devotional episode. But there wasn’t one.
At first, I felt thrown off. It’s become a rhythm for me. A quiet 4-minute anchor before the day picks up speed. But maybe today’s silence is the point.
Sometimes God doesn’t meet us in the ways we’ve come to expect. Sometimes the stillness is the word. No podcast. No devotional. Just a moment to sit, breathe, and remember that His presence doesn’t depend on a routine, a notification, or a voice in our earbuds. His mercies are new every morning, even when the feed is empty.
It reminded me of Elijah. Waiting for God in the wind, the fire, the earthquake... but God came in the whisper.
Maybe today is a whisper day.
If you’ve been running hard, if your days are full and your spirit feels thin. Maybe today’s invitation is just to be still and know. No production. No performance. Just presence.
Prayer:
God, thank You for the whisper. For the moments when You step back the noise so we can step toward Your heart. Help us slow down enough to hear You, even when the world, or the show is moving fast. For every crew member, artist, tech, and team member on the road today, meet them in the in-between moments. Remind them You are near, not just when the devotionals play or the verses feel clear, but even in the silence. Especially in the silence.
