Sorry. I need to do better.
Words for the Wind
Job 6:26
“Do you think that you can reprove words, when the speech of a despairing man is wind?”
Hey friends!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted in here. I’ll be honest, I need to do better. Life’s been busy, full, and honestly, a little overwhelming. But skipping these daily devotions has reminded me just how important it is to slow down and let God speak, especially when everything else is loud.
I’m going to try to post my thoughts in here more often. If you want to follow along, I use the Solid Joys Daily Devotional podcast, it’s 4 minutes long, super grounded, and always hits the heart. You can find it on Spotify or Apple.
Today’s devo really hit home. It talked about how people in pain say things they don’t always mean, how we can speak in minor keys when we’re hurting. And how sometimes, what we say in those moments doesn’t need to be corrected. It just needs to be heard, held, and let go like leaves in the wind.
Whether it’s a friend, a crewmate, or even yourself, not every heavy or doubting word needs a rebuke. Sometimes it’s not coming from the soul, it’s coming from the sore. And what’s needed isn’t a lecture. It’s patience. It’s grace. It’s presence.
Takeaway:
Next time I hear someone venting in a low moment, or catch myself spiraling I’m going to ask, “Is this for the wind?” Not every dark word needs a reaction. Sometimes silence, compassion, and prayer do more than any correction.
Prayer:
God, thank You for Your patience with us when we speak out of pain. Help me show that same patience to others. Give me wisdom to know when to respond and when to simply be present. Teach me how to listen with grace, and help me trust that You’re still working, even in the words that are just for the wind.
Amen.
So good. Thank you Jesus for space to feel and express and for never leaving or forsaking us
