Something to Boast About

Ephesians 2:8-9

“By grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Faith isn’t about how good we are or how hard we work. It’s about letting go of the idea that we can earn what only God can give. It’s about turning away from our own insufficiency and looking to the free, all-sufficient grace of God.

That’s why faith and grace go hand in hand. Faith sees grace behind every good thing every second chance, every moment of patience, every quiet breakthrough on a long day. And because of that, faith doesn’t boast in our own strength. It boasts in the One who gave it all.

I’m reminded how easy it is to let our pride sneak in, especially in this world of constant hustle and performance. We start to believe the lie that our worth is measured by how many shows we’ve worked, how many hours we’ve put in, how many people know our name. But the truth is that the only thing we have to boast about is God’s grace.

It’s not our doing. It’s His gift.

And that’s the most freeing truth there is.

Prayer:

God, thank You for Your grace. Thank You that my worth isn’t measured by my works, but by Your love. Help me remember today that everything good in my life is from You. That every skill, every open door, every new day on this road is a gift. Guard my heart from boasting in myself and keep my eyes fixed on You. Let every boast be in Your name and in Your kindness that never runs out.

Amen.
