How Do You Stay Strong in Dark Situations?
I want to take a moment to be really vulnerable with you all. Recently, I had one of the toughest interviews I’ve ever done with an artist. It wasn’t about the music or the craft, but about facing someone whose values and actions were difficult for me to reconcile with my own beliefs. It was a stark reminder of how challenging and dark this touring world can sometimes be.
In these moments, it’s crucial to remember that we are called to be an example and a light, reflecting Christ in all we do. People are always watching, and we have a responsibility to stay true to our values and faith, no matter how difficult the circumstances.
I’d love to hear from you all: have any of you faced similar challenges recently? What have you found helpful in navigating those tough situations? Have you ever had to work closely with an artist or tour situation that you strongly disagreed with morally? How did you handle it without compromising who you are or what you believe?
Let’s continue to support each other and share our experiences so we can all grow stronger in faith and resilience.
What you’re describing is one of the most real tensions in this work and honestly, I think Jesus walked that tension every single day. He didn’t flinch from hard people. He leaned in. The goal isn’t to avoid the dark, it’s to not let the dark get inside you.
As I’m typing this, it may be the perfect weekend to reflect on this deeper. How dark could have it been for Jesus going into this weekend? He surely didn’t allow the dark to get inside himself, even as he hung on the cross.
For me, I love how conversation brings reflection. It’s humbling. Thanks for opening up the conversation, Nick.
