Loss of Words
I’ve been wanting to share something here for a while, but honestly, I’ve been at a loss for words. With the recent events surrounding the assassination of Charlie Kirk, I’ve found myself deeply shaken. It has really rocked me, and I’ve been spending a lot of time in prayer, wrestling through so many different emotions. I haven’t always known the “right” thing to say, but I know silence isn’t the answer either.
In moments like these, when the world feels confusing and heavy, I’m reminded of the words in Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Even when words fail us, God’s presence does not.
Another verse that’s been speaking to me is Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
My encouragement to all of us is this: lean into prayer, lean into each other, and lean into God’s promises. We may not have all the answers, but we know the One who does. Let’s keep lifting each other up, finding hope in Christ, and remembering that even in the darkest times, light shines through.
I’d love if you would join me in prayer right now:
Heavenly Father, We come before You today with hearts that are heavy, confused, and grieving. In the face of tragedy, we cling to You as our refuge and strength, our ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Lord, we lift up Charlie Kirk’s wife and children to You. Surround them with Your comfort and hold them close. When the nights are long and the grief feels unbearable, remind them of Your promise in Matthew 5:4: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
Father, we ask that You give his family supernatural strength to endure this season. Guard their hearts and minds from despair. Place godly people around them to encourage, protect, and walk with them through the valley of the shadow of death. May Your presence be their anchor when waves of sorrow come.
We also lift up our country. Lord, we are broken, divided, and hurting. Heal our land from hatred, violence, and fear. Raise up leaders who pursue righteousness, justice, and peace. Pour out Your Spirit across this nation, bringing revival and awakening hearts to Your truth. Teach us, as Your children, to love one another as Christ has loved us (John 13:34-35).
God, we confess that sometimes we don’t know what to pray or how to move forward. But Your Word says in Romans 8:26 that “the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” So, even when we don’t have the words, we know You hear our cries.
Finally, Lord, help us as individuals to walk faithfully with You in these days. Strengthen our faith, guard our hearts from fear, and make us bold witnesses of Your hope and love. May we be peacemakers, truth-tellers, and light-bearers in a world that desperately needs You.
We ask all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, Amen.
