Authentic Faith Is Eager for Christ to Come
I’ve been thinking a lot today about what I’m actually waiting for.
We wait on everything out here soundcheck, flights, crew calls, even our next paycheck. We get used to waiting. But today’s devo made me stop and ask, “Am I waiting on Jesus with that same kind of expectation? Or am I just trying to stretch out this life as long as I can?”
Hebrews reminds us that Jesus is coming back not to judge us for sin, but to save us, fully and finally. And who’s He coming for? The ones who are eagerlywaiting for Him.
That word “eager” got me. Because sometimes, if I’m honest, I feel more eager for my next opportunity than for His return. And that’s a sign that something’s off.
Real faith isn’t just fire insurance. It’s a longing for Jesus Himself not just what He saves us from, but what He brings us into. Being with Him is the end goal. And if we truly believe that, it’ll show up in how we live, how we talk, how we wait.
If you’re reading this and want to follow along with me, I listen to the Solid Joys Daily Devotional podcast. It’s only 4 minutes a day, but it has a way of cutting through the noise. I’ll keep posting these thoughts here as often as I can.
Prayer
Jesus, give me the kind of faith that longs for You, not just for relief, not just for answers, but for You. If my heart is more eager for this world than for Your return, change it. Teach me how to wait with joy and live like You’re the treasure at the end of all of this.
Amen.
This is some really GREAT stuff Nick! Thank you for sharing!!
