Solid Joys Daily Devotional
Strength to Wait
Colossians 1:11 “May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy.”
Today’s podcast hit home today. Touring life is full of hurry-up-and-wait moments, flight delays, long drives, load-ins, set changes, tech hiccups, and unexpected curveballs. It’s easy to feel like we’re constantly at the mercy of everything around us, and if things don’t go just right, we lose our cool. I know I’ve been there.
But today’s reminded me that patience isn’t weakness, it’s strength. Real strength. The kind that doesn’t come from everything going your way, but from a deep place of trust in something bigger than the chaos. Paul’s prayer in Colossians is a reminder that the strength to be patient, to endure with joy, doesn’t come from us, it comes from God’s glorious might.
For me, this 4-minute podcast has become a kind of spiritual gauge. If I don’t have time to hit play, I probably need to rethink my priorities for the day. It’s not always easy to sit down with a Bible, especially on the road, but even a few minutes like this can shift my mindset.
Starting today, I’m going to try posting my thoughts here daily based on these devotions and if you feel like joining me, sharing your thoughts, or just following along, I’d love that.
Prayer:
God, I lift up all my friends on the road today whether they’re on buses, in venues, in the air, or trying to catch some rest between shows. Give them the kind of strength that doesn’t just survive the day, but endures with joy. Help us all slow down enough to hear from You, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Fill us with the kind of patience that speaks louder than frustration and the kind of faith that anchors us no matter what the schedule throws our way. Amen.
Good stuff. Thank you. “Be still and know that I am God“
