120V cables

Good day,

Do you guys have any recommendations for bulk cable to make my own 120V 3 prong power cable up to 15A, is 12/3 nesseary or will 14AWG work just as well, SJ? SJO? Something suitable for outside use.

I don't plan on going over 100' but mostly lengths of 25' and 50'.

If you have preferred connectors too let me know, my shop calls them Edison cables, some people call them Nema, some people call it an extension chord, what do you call them?

My main concerns are safety, and coilability (which is definitely word)

Bob is right - you can grab it from Home Depot no problem; however, I usually purchased my bulk cable from wireandcableyourway.com

If you're doing standard local festival-type gigs, you can get away with SJOOW - the J stands for 300V rating and is slightly less bulky than SOOW cable which is rated for 600V.

If you want to really get nerdy:

S = Service (portable cord)

J = Junior (300V max rating)

OO = Oil Resistant housing

W = Water / Weather resistant
